Ricardo A. Cruciani, MD, PhD

Dr. Cruciani attended the University of Buenos Aires, School of Medicine, where he received his MD degree and a PhD degree in Pharmacology (Suma Cum Laude).  After working in basic neuroscience at the National Institutes of Health for almost a decade, he completed a residency program at Weill Medical College of Cornell University in Neurology and Psychiatry. Afterwards he received postgraduate training in Pain Management and Palliative Care at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, NY, NY where he remained as an attending. His main areas of interest are neural plasticity in chronic pain, management of neuropathic pain and fatigue, and opioid pharmacology. He has more than one hundred publications including  peer review journals, book chapters and editorials.  He has lectured nationally and internationally and has numerous presentations at scientific meetings.  Dr. Cruciani is a member of The American Pain Society and serves in its Program Committee and the Nomination Committee. He is the Editor in Chief of the journal Advances in Pain Medicine and is on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management. He serves as a reviewer for the journals Anesthesia and Analgesia, the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management, Neurology and The Journal of Physiology among others.  He sits in NIH study sections and has been an NIH grantee for several years.
